| Disco 4 - 155 kw vs 188 kw |
|
After main bearings failure in Disco 3 TDV6 which happened twice in just five months I'm planning to buy Disco 4. I've noticed there two types of engines - 155 kw and 188 kw. What are main differences, reliability?

I really don't know what model/specifications Land Rover might sell in Lithuania, but in the UK, apart from minor differences, all Discovery 4's have the same 3.0 twin turbo V6 diesel engine. The later ones have a bit more power and that mainly comes from the 8 speed automatic gearbox, where the first ones had a 6 speed box. The later one is better, but fear not, the earlier one has good performance too.

In many jurisdictions the 155kw 3.0 engine was marketed as the TDV6 (after the 2.7 was dropped) and the 188kw version was marketed as the SDV6.
Both are the same 3.0 sequential turbo V6 - as far as I tell there is very little if any physical differences in the engines (some say injectors) but the engines are tuned differently to produce the different outputs.

Just checked on the MY10 Brochure - 3.0 TDV6 was 188KW and the 2.7 TDV6 fitted to early GS D4's was 140KW - never heard of a 155KW - so mustn't be a UK spec

here in Spain was the specifications that Edgaras-LTUabout says, was The same engine 3.0 delivering two different powers .... lost in translation!

The 155kw 3.0 was sold in the UK as the commercial model, once they stopped fitting the 2.7 to the commercials around end of 2011 I think. Not sure when they dropped it and fitted the 188kw to the commercials; probably coincided with the introduction of the 8 speed box in 2012.

Well, I have one of each in the commercial versions.
My 2013 registered one is 210bhp, had this a year and a bit, it's done 121k miles.
The other collected yesterday 2014 registered 255bhp done 68k miles.
Apart from the 255bhp being quieter, I am struggling to tell much difference between the two.
Not really given the new one much use or got carried away with the loud pedal, but this empty no faster or suchlike than the other fully loaded?
