No sound from Radio and navscreen has no power

Hi everyone,

I've been searching forum for this topic, but the most "no sound from radio" topics are somehow different from my situation and thats why I decided to open a new topic.

So, as a long time owner of Disco 2, recently I purchased American version LR3 (2006, HSE, V8 4.4). The car was really dirty and went for a car wash for the extensive interior cleaning. Everything was working in good order before cleaning. However, after washing, when i had to take my car, i noticed that nav screen was off and there was no sound from radio/cd head unit. I have searched for possible solutions on many forums and tried hard reset (without luck), reset from radio by clicking knob for a long time (no luck), and also just disconnecting the battery (no luck). Then i checked the fiber optic cable which is connected to the amp under the passenger seat, so when i unplugged the fiber optic cable from the amp, there was no light coming from any of the cable connectors (as i know there should be red light from both of them). Can you give any suggestions what could be the possible issue, do i have a faulty cable or harness, or is amp fried?

When this happened to me it was the first sign of Alternator failure, the battery voltage had dropped so systems were being shut down to preserve power, when I realised the Alternator wasn't charging well I replaced it and after awhile of running the voltage recovered and I got the screen and radio back. Hope this helps you track it down.

Happened to me last night, let her go to sleep and when I tried again all was well
Checked the voltage tonight and I've only 13.0v so could be time for a new alternator

So, to make follow up, I went to audio system specialist and did some tests. In the end he found that even though amp didn't have optic light in the beginning, it appeared after several tries of disconnecting and then reconnecting. He made bypass tests on all modules and with Sirius and Nokia module bypassed radio started to have it's sound back, however nav screen wasn't working. I have now nav screen out and need to find replacement and if the replacement works then problem is solved and if not then I have to try gps unit bypass and new gps unit. Considering the prices of gps unit and nav screen (by the way, in Georgia, there are no maps for land rovers, so, basically gps is useless, unless it's Garmin or other aftermarket Android version) I am thinking to upgrade system with aftermarket screen with more functions. Will post update once everything will be repaired.
