URGENT BATTERY HELP

Hi all... Disco 4 2014... NZ new 1 month out of warranty...

Friday night 4pm......Auckland motorway NZ...heading to home 4 hrs away.... every warning light started flashing so pulled over and turned off engine. Would not start again. Showing LOW BATTERY, START ENGINE warning. Could not start. Have had 4 new Discos since 2005... so am largely familiar and suspect stuffed battery.

I am only near basic assistance not Land Rover agents.

Questions:

Can basic auto electrician test for stuffed AGM battery?

Can basic auto electrician test for alternator fault on intelligent vehicle?

Can I limp home (on quite remote roads) by grabbing a standard lead acid battery replacement if alternator is OK?

Many thanks for any help..
 Near enough 40 degrees South!!!

I'd say yes as well. Important to get home to a telly to watch the All Blacks get stuffed by the Lions. Or will that be when I fall asleep in front of mine and dream that. Very Happy

Seriously, I'd say you are right in that it's a knackered battery and hopefully any auto battery you could fit, so long as it's powerful enough to crank the engine and start it would get you home.

Yes he can do the tests providing he has the equipment, if the alternator has failed and is shorting to earth it will kill the new battery in minutes, if the alternator is not charging or disconnected a new fully charged battery will last for about 1/2 an hour or 30 miles if you are lucky.
How many cars have failed to start after being cleaned because the radio has been playing Whistle
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
