Gearbox repairs and warranty direct. |
|
Hi all, I have been having a good search around and can find plenty of information on gearbox faults but not much on warranty companies (specifically warranty direct) and how they deal with it. Does any one have experience of having a box or components replaced by them?
I took my 2005 D3 hse in on Friday (120000 miles flush done 40k ago) for shudders and fluctuating revs. Really bad up hills and worse in 3rd. In 3rd will do it on flat roads etc. They feel that Torque converter is cause of revs rising and falling but not sure it's causing the judder & feel there are other issues. Would love WD to replace box but I bet it is not that simple. Will they want to inspect/drive and would they pay for LR recon box or cheaper (maybe not as good) alternative?
Sorry for all the questions hope someone can through some light. Ultimately I will speak to them but just wondered in case any others have had similar faults
Thanks John. D4 HSE Luxury

Any time I've made a claim, it was based on work identified by my local Indy garage. They identified then problem and spoke to WD, who authorised the work and then settled without a whimper.
You should check with a good Indy garage if they deal with WD. 2014 - D4 2010 HSE Nara Bronze

Thank you. I have had good service from them I have to say. No quibbles about anything. Speaking to garage this morning. It's going to be a £3000 job so wondered if it costs a certain amount it triggers some sort of inspection. Will feedback any news. D4 HSE Luxury

Just a quick update on the gearbox. Juddering had got very bad but mainly in third with fluctuating revs etc. Claim made for new gearbox and authorised very quickly. WD wanted to have it rebuilt at one of their recommended repairers but LR exchange box worked only £200 more so they suggested doing that which of course I accepted. Absolutely brilliant service from them and TT motorsport who did the job. Cheque arrived after about 6 days as well so fairly prompt. Total cost was £3400
Many warranties get a bad press but WD do seem to do as they promise. D4 HSE Luxury

Hi Bodsy. LR have discontinued the TC on its own now the gearbox price has dropped (exchange box is now £2300 + vat) . The tc now comes on the exchange box D4 HSE Luxury

I'm chuffed - it drives like new again. Just come back from Lake District and had about 5 trips over Hardknot pass ! Dr tranny kept it going for about15 k on a single go and I would have repeated if it wasn't covered by WD D4 HSE Luxury
