Just tried to insure my new 110 with eSure, what a carry on! They don't list a 110 CSW on their system so she asked if it is OK to put it down as a 110 TDi SE
Then I advised that it will have a winch and bumper fitted, surprise surpsise that isn't listed either. "Is it a front spoiler" the girl asks? "No it isn't it's a winch for recovering a stuck caravan from a filed" I say
End of story is they won't insure me 2007 D3 TDV6 GS Auto

A lot of insurers are getting this way. We had my wifes 1.4 Scenic insured with Churchill, and she'd been with them for about 10yrs, so we thought it would be fairly easy to add my 17yr old son, as a learner to her policy so that he could get some miles under his belt. No way, they wouldnt insure it at all, said it was to powerful, a 1.4 Scenic for gods sake.
Moved to NFU (like the D3), much better deal and including my son.

I was a firm believer in you got what you pay for, and I was always happy to pay our broker a few extra £££. Had the house insurance with them as well, and when we had an issue with a tree fallind through a shed, they came took photos, and sorted it all out - totally hassle free on my part.
This year, a lady ran into the back of my company car. She was insured with Tesco.
Next morning, I got a phone call from tesco, offerign to collect my car and leave me a "like for like" courtesy car. When the repairs were complete, they said they would return my car washed and valeted, and take the courtesy car away.
Due to the fact that my car just needed a new rear bumper, and it was my pride and joy, I arranged for it to be repaired a a garage known to me, where they would order the bumper, paint it, etc, and then only have my car for a couple of hours whilst fitted it. Tesco said they would still brign me a car if I wanted one. But they don't have any RS4's on the like for like hire fleet, so I declined.
They then phoned a week later to ask if I was happy with everything - which I was.
So when renewal came round on the Disco, I tried them. £500 cheaper than I was currnently paying, and £250 cheaper than NFU.
Pretty sure it doesn't have any offroad cover though.

Funny isn't it how we all are prepared to pay more to have the car we want, and heaven knows they aren't cheap, but we want the absolute cheapest when it comes to insurance.

Try the salvation army!...but seriously, NFU were £50 more than the cheapies (just renewed last week)......no brainer, I'd rather feel smug buying quality and service than angry being pi**ed about by the cerebrally challenged agents of the big discount insurers to save a small amount.
AND!!!!...replacement vehicle in the event of a write-off is for the first TWO years with NFU, all others are only one year.

As I said, normally, I am happy to pay more for a decent level of service. Tesco matched everything my previous insurer offered. If it had only been £50 - £150 / year then I would have kept with the previous, or moved to NFU - afterall it is only 2 tanks of fuel, but for £500, it was a different matter.
It might not help my (insurance) cause, that the Mrs uses the disco as her weekday transport, and she is only 26

My buildings and contents is with esure - and they're playing silly bu&^ers about the damage that was caused by the burst water main that flooded my house on Saturday night...
They want to see all the damaged waterlogged stuff and see receipts for pretty much all of it that i need to claim for I mean who keeps receipts for everything they own?
Won't let me claim for the water logged parcel shelf out of the D3 - got to put this through contents...
Well pi%%ed off this morning
