Headlight Bulb Upgrade
Hi guys, the standard headlight bulbs in the D4's are so dull & yellow, so i wanted to replace for nice and bright white ones for my 2011 D4. Has anyone got any tips which bulbs to get, and are they easy to fit yourself?
I and many others on here use Osram Nightbreakers. They do need changing more frequently though. Im now trialling the Osram extended life ones to see if any difference in life and brightness. no change to brightness noticed in the dipped beams that I have changed so far. There are others from Phillips and Ring which may be as good or better. You could always start modifying and fit spotlights!

Another for Osram night breakers here, also gone for the Osram led sidelights from Advanced factors as your side lights will look considerably fuller once headlamps are upgraded. Headlamps easy to change, grill clips out, pull the two tabs either side of the headlight, pull out and unplug. Side lamps easy but you have to take the headlight locking mechanism off the back of the headlight.

Awesome. Thanks for the tip. Having looked at the durability, it states half the time of the standard bulbs. Anyone have an indication of how long in time these will last me. With the Lights on Auto they are often on when there's no actual need. And like many people on here, I have slight OCD for details so would absolutely hate for 1 to blow unexpectedly mid journey. Saying that I only do around 6k miles a year..
Ive had as little as 2k miles over 3 months out of a dipped beam nightbreaker over the winter while the other side is still going strong. Bulbs tend to blow at first switch on when current is highest. Unless you have left lots of time to get wherever you need to be, you wont be changing straightaway! Only 1 bulb (NS dipped IIRC) can be changed without taking the grill out and removing the headlamp. Though I suppose its still only a 10min job. To remove the headlamp, you need to release the locking tabs. Ive found a 300mm cable tie (no need to fasten) loops under the tab and can then be pulled up.

Another +1 for Osram nightbreakers. They are brighter than the stock bulbs.

Mine has Bi-Xenon plus H7 (MY2011) high beam where I installed the LED H7. Awesome!!!
For who has the halogen version, I think it's THE solution (both low and high beam).
Same on My KTM bike where I'm using two H11 KED .... fantastic results with a perfect light pattern.....Discovery 5 tdv6 HSE Corris Gray Outback Engineering Limited Edition

I've used the phillips racing visions and I love them HOWEVER don't expect them to last longer than 3 to 4 months and at 27 quid a set... this may well be down to the automatic lights constantly switching them on and off down tree lined lanes..www.southeast4x4response.org.uk Responder of 9 years service SE140

I used nightbreakers in my previous D4, were good but life was very short. Save your pennies and buy a secondhand set of D4 Xenons, it's what I did in the end, far better result than any of the high performance halogen bulbs (although I also ended up changing the halogen main beam bulb in the Xenons to a nightbreaker as well in the end but main beam is on so infrequently that bulb life is less of an issue).
Has anyone put the new technology LED bulbs into the main beam on a D4 Xenon lamp?1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

Isn't that what dgardel is indicating he has done a few posts up?
