Fuel gauge issue

Hi, looking for wise words from a knowledgeable sage.

A week ago I had the suspension compressor replaced on my 2010 D4.
When I got the car back the fuel gauge was giving me a low fuel warning despite me having filled it up the day before it went in.
I have it booked for the garage to investigate, but is it likely that in changing the compressor the fuel sender wiring has been compromised in some way, or is it a complete coincidence?
Thoughts?
