RRS CD 560 into a Lowline D3

I've read a good few treads on here about putting the RRS CD 560 into a D3 that has only a low line single CD and that it was possible, as both have the amp built in and not under the drivers seat, but did anyone actually do it and did it work? I know the front need to be changed to fit exactly into a D3. But I can't find anywhere that someone did it and that it worked.
