Coffee in gear nob

I was driving with my family today and I poured half cup of coffee to gear nob. It spilled also to hand brake switch. I had paper towels near with me so I was able to clean it in short time.
Any idea could that harm car later? Now everything seems to work normally.

Of your coffee was very sugary probably best to dismantle what you can to clear out sticky mess.

Likewise if milky but more because it may smell.

Did the same to mine whilst in Middlesborough had to drive 100 miles home in 3rd gear auto as dash lit up like a Christmas tree stripped down when I got home and used contact cleaner on all multi plugs spot on after I would do the same if I was you rather than it let you down in the future.

Ukraine

Something similar happened in the D4 on the way back from NW Norway. Lots of roadworks on road to Kiruna from Narvik, very rough surface, and the only bottle of beer in the car half emptied itself in the passanger side middle row footwell. I thought it suddenly smelt fruity in the car! Didn't think any more if it until I went to consume said been and found it half full (note positivity!!!). It was even pressurised. Lots of mopping up beer from carpet in hotel car park (bear in mind mid row seats flat and half a D3 contents in the back) but car still has a subtle aroma of beer. Could have been worse, it could have been milk. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
