Brake Caliper Wrap

First and foremost, I'd like to thank all of the contributors to this site. The knowledge and insight I have gained by studying threads has saved me countless hours and monies. I'm very much appreciative. While changing out the brake discs and pads recently, I thought I'd give the Disco's shoes a fresh look...

White, laminated high heat vinyl. This vinyl was created for applications such as this.

As you can see, the brake calipers and caliper carriers appear white until light hits them. The first two shots were taken in regular light with no flash. The final two shots were taken in darkness with flash. I'm only posting this to get my posts up so that I may ask a few questions that I may need help getting answered in the future. But for now, let me thank everyone again esp. Bidsy, Wiggs etc. for all of your insight and desire to help others get the most out of their Disco. I hope you all thought this mod was interesting. And yes, here in the states it is DOT(dept. of transportation) approved.

Full disclosure, I work with digitally printed graphics in a vehicle wrap shop in the States. I'm not at the office now, but as I recall, this is the product I used. This was also laminated in clear for protection. The clear laminate product info is stated further down in the link:

https://www.fellers.com/fellers-shopping/c...3m-ij5100r

First I figured out what I wanted wrap...

Next step was to sand, then sand, then clean with brake cleaner, then sand...you get the point. Get them very very clean and finish the cleaning process with 70% isopropyl alcohol thoroughly removing any remaining particulate. Using an air hose quite a bit throughout the cleaning process helps of course.

Unfortunately, no pics during the wrap process, but I new what needed to be covered and where to avoid. This is a pic in darkness with calipers and carriers reinstalled:

Here are a couple pics of a dirty truck in morning, partly cloudy skies:

Each wheel may have taken less than an hour to wrap said components, but prep is where it's at. A VERY clean surface as well as a very clean application is vital to the longevity of the product. Everything was coming off and getting cleaned up when I did the brakes(Thanks Bodsy)and I definitely toyed with the idea of painting them. But when in Rome(or a wrap shop), I thought why not. There are a few color options out there as well as I could have had something printed on the vinyl but I haven't seen anybody do this is in straight white(I don't get out much) and I thought it would look pretty good just like that. Again this is my first post, and it was more to thank all of the forum members for the help you have given me. I would YouTube some vids on wrapping, get yourself a yard or two of laminated vinyl and wrap some random things first to get an idea of how the material works. Cheers gentlemen. Let me know what you think.
