Iceman - thanks so much for sorting the images.

Couple of questions for you:
it look like the kit comes with the battery wires in it - did you not use those and buy your own because you wanted the red wire a bit longer?
did you use the black battery wire that came in the kit?
https://www.jgs4x4.co.uk/t-max-12v-split-c...s-monitor/

Don't suppose you ever remembered what the gauge was on the smaller red and black wires that went to the 12v plugs?

thanks again
Ben

The reason I didn't use the supplied cable was because it wasn't long enough and I wanted to colour code it! The Red cable I bought had a slightly larger gauge so being OCD I bought the black to match the red and binned the supplied cable!

As far as the cable size for the sockets I can't remember! What is it you will be running from them?

By the way........great name Ben

Ben Thumbs Up

Thanks Ben!

Feel free to ignore my pm as I think you've answered my questions already!

I'll be charging lipo batteries via a 12v socket. Think I'll install the dual USB socket as well.

With cables I always tend to go big so as not to fry the cable if it's too small!

For the black earth cable - how much did you need? Presumably not the same 6m as for the red?

Thanks Smile

Consider your PM ignored Ner Ner

Looking back at my setup, the highest rated fuse I have is 15amp and the highest rated socket is also 15amp so I guess you'd be safe going for something like this 25amp cable.

http://www.12voltplanet.co.uk/25-amp-singl...cable.html

Like you I think it's always better to be safe than sorry!

Do you already have the lipo battery charger (I had to google lipo battery) as it may have the current draw written on it?

For the earth cable and from looking at my pictures I'm guessing 2m maximum, maybe 1m will do but without measuring I couldn't say for sure!

Thumbs Up

Here's the spec from the charger according to google.

Input voltage: Compact car : 12.3-16 V; Full-size car: 25-30 V
DC output: 26.1 V; 3.45 A; 90 W

On to that could go a smart charge hub - which chargers 4 batteries, fullest one first, then moves on.
Batteries are either 4500 mah or 5700 mah or i'll charge batteries individually if it's quicker.

I've no idea what that means to my split set up?! Any ideas?!

I'm no expert but if the output is 3.45a then you should be fine. No idea if the charging hub uses more but if it only charges one at a time then I guess it'll be okay.

As long as your cable is rated higher than the fuse you install you'll be okay, so 25a cable with a 15 or 20a fuse is fine...........which I'm sure you already know Embarassed

The 12v sockets I used are only rated to 15a so that was my limit!

Have ordered all the bits I think I need today.
Then realised I haven't got the battery tie down piece... the metal bracket that fits across the battery.

I think I've read that it's a left hand drive component. But what about the two metal studded bars that it bolts to? Are they already in place or do I need to buy those seperately?
I'm away from the D3 at the moment so can't check.
TIA

Your correct, the clamp is for a left hand drive vehicle, make sure they are aware of that when ordering as they might be helpful like in DSL's case and change it for a RHD when you actually want a LHD!

The bolts are separate and best ordered with the clamps, the part numbers for the bolts are XYG000051 and XYG500061.

Not sure on the clamp part number though!

Thumbs Up

The accessories I keep behind the door on the opposite side and I have a D1 bottle jack that fits nicely behind my control panel.

As tayaste says, my original jack is also in the bin! Twisted Evil

may i ask do u normally hook up a solar panel system to the aux battery, or is it better to allow the aux deep cycle batteries to fully discharge then for the alternator to recharge them , thks Thumbs Up

I'm afraid I have no idea about the solar panel, but I am sure others will chime in Smile

I just let the alternator manage my aux. Battery gets used whilst engine off and recharged when engine running.
