Hi everyone
I have a 05 se manual with clutch on way out,so I got a 56 base model auto which I prefer as not a manual fan.
So I'm going swap trim from my se to the base model is this possible and will all harness be in the base model to take extras in se trim example puddle lights heated seats,I've noticed on first look over the base model it has no aux at rear of cubby which I thought all discos had this.
Also got base model really cheap so couldn't refuse, just in case you think I should have bought higher spec in first place
Any advice appreciated
Cheers
Paul

No all the harness parts may not be there you may have to take the leads out of your se for the likes of the amp sat nav etc Discovery 3 se gone

Cheers Geoff
Thinking of not putting sat nav in as I never use it just always switch it off when I use car, so with out changing that does that make the likelihood that much easier?

Some of the wires probably won't be there for the heated seats but it is possible to retrofit them especially if you have a second one with it fitted. Cruise Control and radio control on the steering wheel a straight swap but cruise might/probably need enabling. As you have the donor it'll be easy to compare each item before switching.

it does if you keep the base stereo or use a double din if you want better as the se hu will have an amp under the driver sat and uses the most loop but seats are easy as already easy but will take a bit of work Discovery 3 se gone

Erea,so is it just a case of swapping steering wheel over with cruise control and radio buttons as base model has horrible steering wheel on so my leather one from se model is getting swapped. Then just enable, also pdc is there only the black box behind c pillar to install apart from the sensors themselves.
Cheers paul

Steering wheel is very easily switched, marker mark the shaft so as you get the new one one straight. Follow the guidelines here for removing the airbag. Airbag takes seconds to remove.

Have a look on the rear near side rear light well where your light sits and also just behind the panel inside and see if you have the PDF plug first if you have you may be able to just swap bumpers it has been known and with the air at make sure the car has fully gone to sleep to make sure it won't go off Discovery 3 se gone

Thank you help and advice geoff and erea, just noticed tonight when checking base model it doesnt have power fold mirrors my se power fold should just bolt in and work?
Also can i fit the auto dimmer interior mirror or is that not possible?
My se has puddle lights, should wires be in base model doors for these?
Also sorry to be a pest but what about light switch(headlights) on my se it has auto setting but base model doesnt,is this just a case of swapping the switch consoles over from se to base model?
All help and advice is greatfully appreciated
Thanks Paul

They will change over easy enough but I would invest in an Iid fool woth the stuff you want to do and you would need to find the wires for the puddle lights etc they may be there but you would need to find them Discovery 3 se gone

The auto lights might be an issue, it's more than just the switch. Behind the mirror on the SE there is the sensor for the lights and auto wipers (others feel free to correct me please if I'm wrong) that would be needed to get the auto lights working. Also as above access to an IID tool would be.......... almost essential to enable a lot of stuff.
But at a guess everything (sat nav screen excepted and stereo (depending on model number) ) should be possible to switch over

Good luck. From experience, when you are switching the seats check if you need to switch the safety belt pretensioners on the front seats. I put mine in without checking and had to take them out again to swap them off the seats I took out, as they wouldn't click in. 5 min job with the seats out. Plenty posts here about any wiring changes that you might need to get them working.
Enjoy
