Inner CV joint - Diff oil seal?
Hi All,
Looking for a bit of wisdom 8)
I've obviously got some oil leak from the inner CV joint, I'm guessing this might be the oil seal on the diff. Is it a difficult job to do and do I need any special tools?
Basically is it doable for a handy DIY or just easier to take it to the Indy (if so what should I expect to pay?)
Cheers

inner boot has failed easyish if you ok with the tools did mine on the drive a while ago hardest part was removing the shaft from the diff you need to lever it out square but there's not much room to get a lever each side of the joint
i was lucky as i had a new genuine shaft that i picked up for £25 so just fitted that
mind you just looking at your pic again i would have a quick check of the diff breather as mine was blocked and that made the seal weep, just cut the valve off the top and route the pipe so no dirt/water gets in and listen when you cut the pipe as they vacuum and make the seal leak please excuse any grammer/punctuation mistakes,i'm thick, thankyou

Yeah I did think of the diff breather, mine's got the updated 'Gore' one wasn't sure if I could rule it out because of that.
I changed the diff oil a couple of days ago so I don't think I'd get the vacuum as I would have released the pressure undoing the fill plug.

have a really good look at the cv boot when mine split i knew something was spraying fluid underneath but i couldn't see the split it took the mot tester to spot it and listed as an advisory but the damage was tiny
your boot in the pic does look suspicious the way the first two folds look different to the rest on the boot,i think its split next to the clip thats were mine went due to the shaft sliding in/outplease excuse any grammer/punctuation mistakes,i'm thick, thankyou

I’ve done three diff oil seals, one rear and both fronts. Looking at your picture I suspect CV boot if it was diff seal the oil comes out around were the drive shaft enters the diff which looks dry in your shot.Steve

I believe you can get split replacement boots which save all the strip down.
