yet another engine tapping(?) noise

Hi,
I have small issue with my D3 Smile: Tapping (?) noise from the engine bay

It's a 2.7 A/T Disco from 2007 with little bit over 240 000 km (~150 000 miles).

These are movies from two sides of the engine:
-
-

I've changed oil pump last week, water pum - in january.

Are these sounds from bearing shells, crank shaft? Or, hopefully from rockers tap / tappers?

If its true than great Smile

However i plann to change tappets and glow plugs in near future - with this mileage this may be worth of doing.

Maybe next I will collect monety for crank shaft and bearing shells replacement with some pistons check. I see that parts are around 2000-2200 GPB on ebay for OEM so it might be better than possible engine replacement.

And I will be thankful for one more opiinon about that enginge noise I have Wink Just to be calm on my next 2000km trip this weekend.

Sounds like a perfectly normal TDV6 idle to me. There's lots going on in there, the sound is always very 'busy'

The first video sounds like an exhaust blow to me, probably just the microphone. Perhaps something to investigate while you're in there.

Its more metalic sound for me. Third and last video for this issue. I don't have a mic that will catch this sound better.

Only suggesting tensioner as mine has started making a similar type of noise over the last couple of K's and it sounds as if it's coming from that sort of area Thumbs Up

If you are really going to the trouble of changing tappets, check the cam chains and tensioners, if its not much more work.

Andi.

I can't hear any noise there that sounds like slapping tappets, nothing to worry about, and certainly no need to go to the trouble of doing all that work. Thumbs Up
