Hi,
something that bothers me a little bit (well, quite much actually).
If I check the oil level through the procedure explained in the manual, I get an oil level topped at max and thus ok.
About half an hour to 45 mins drive, the warning 'oil level critically low' message pops up sometimes. Usually doing a steady speed on the motorway. Not guaranteed it will when I start the drive though, that's what me makes wondering what is going on.
I got really scared the first time, so I quickly pulled aside and waited for 10 mins before I could do the check. After which it happily stated that everything was ok.
From what I understood about the DPF and the likes, shouldn't there be another error popping up if that would be related to the filter? I have to say I only quickly read through some posts and may not have understood everything correctly.
I called the dealer and they assured not to be scared off, as the sensor could be on its way to fade out.
Half a year and about 25k kms. Always funny these things happen when you're on holiday and especially after you've had a service done before leaving ...
Anyway, any ideas on what could be wrong?
I haven't had the change yet to have the car read out for more errors and the like.
Thanks in advanceD4

Seems to be becoming a known fault of oil seeping into the wiring loom.
Get it booked into your dealer and get the sensor and loom replaced under warranty. The next time you get the error, make sure you take a picture of it being displayed on the instrument pack. D4 MY14 XXV - RLD/IID BT

sorry to ask , please don't throw anything at me if it's a sore subject
so how is the level done, is it via the digital instrument panel, as i've seen the fuel level is digital
bet that's fun isn't it when changing the oil, waiting for the oil to drain through the engine,

Thanks DudleyDisco,
checked the thread you offered and is indeed similar to what I'm experiencing. It also goes away itself after a while ..
I'll try taking a picture of it .. it surely will pop up in the upcoming days D4

Oil level is accessed via the instrument panel. The engine needs to be up to temperature and then to have sat for 10 minutes before you can take an accurate level reading
There are shortcuts, but if we could just find someone who could make a dipstick to fit down the vacuum tube, then there'd be a lot of happy D4 owners 8)D4 MY14 XXV - RLD/IID BT

Exactly .. funny thing is my reaction at first, when I got to the side, was opening the bonnet and looking for the dipstick .. and then .. ah yes, the display. Albeit having my oil level checked before

I wonder if a standard D3 dipstick would fit/work? Unfortunately didn't think to bring Dark Bluie's back.
A piece of welding wire will fit down, mark the level and put a couple of kinks in the wire, then just pop it in as and when you have a panic attack Altox GSM FBH controller thread

if for any reason the oil level sensor failed will it shut the engine down to prevent it from starting to protect it as a failsafe
knowing that the oil level should be ok, I have to be honest that this is my biggest concern. I don't know how they programmed their fault handlings but I can imagine some engineer thinking this to be a good idea and have it sold to the project lead ...
That was actually what I explained missus when it came up the second time ...D4
