Replacing plastic water fitting
Hi all
I have read about a couple of the plastic fittings that the cooling hose fits on the top of the engine splitting causing the D3 to dump all of the water out.
Thinking of replacing mine as its 12 years old and plastic doesn't last forever.
Is it an easy part to replace?? do you loose all the water?? and is there any pitfalls i need to keep an eye out for??
Thanks for ant help offered.

Can’t help with how to do it, as Steve Norman changed mine, but sounds a good idea. Mine split two days after a 400 mile motorway run - definitely a near miss! That was at 9 1/2 years old.

Loose some water but not loads.
Difficulty can be releasing the pipe connectors but this is early on.

Is there any special procedure for re-venting the cooling system??
Thanks for your input

Thanks Del,
I was planning to avoid this situation at all costs, it's the last thing I want on a motorway or climbing up a mountain on route to a ski resort......

It was on my old D3's preventative to-do list. She just didn't get that far.

Leave the small pipe off which is the vent.
Add coolant. Leave cap off
Put vent pipe back on loosely.
Start engine for a few minutes.
Add coolant.
There is a vent on the tank but these leak if you mess with them.

Thanks Pete, it sounds like something I can cope with.
Is there any special coolant I should be using or mixture??
Thanks again for your help
