Question: Max RPM of Disco 3 2006 2.7D
Hi,
I've had several "Engine System Failure" warning come up & on occasion, the car has gone into "Limp Home Mode"
After switching off, the (I>) extinguishes and normal throttle is resumed but after approx. 10mins driving (not hard acceleration) the "Engine System Failure" returns. Normal throttle response. If I put my foot down, "Limp Home Mode" re engages.
Called RAC and they cleared several old fault codes inc Height Sensors but the same symptoms return.
I note at stand still, I can only rev the engine to 4600rpm. This seems a little low. RAC said it could be that the turbo is on the way out (220,000 on the clock) "Engine System Failure" does not appear if stood still & revved to maximum.
Any pointers chaps as I think the body shell has to be lifted to replace the turbo. Is that correct?

need the engine fault codes really. to know.
You could try oiling the turbo rod if you wanted.

Oil turbo rod. Is that easy & a DIY job?

yes its diy if you have a decent car jack
a coat metal hanger
you go in thru the wheel arch
search on here
maybe called turbo actuator rod

Daft question from a non techie, with the faults being thrown up and no access to codes, is it wise to be revving the engine to the max?
Just a thought.

And D4 is sitting outside half stripped ready for 2nd battery installation. Just cursing I forgot the DMM so can't investigate aux socket relay pinouts.

Though hopefully off to Verdun area end Sept to hike over some WW1 battlefields.
