EPB strip and clean advice

I have read the infamous Bodsy Brake Bible, which explains how to get to the EPB and change shoes/adjust etc, but I've read many suggestions that it should be stripped and cleaned regularly and indeed the manual says it should be done after 50 miles of off road. But that isn't explained in the bible.

So what should I be doing? Liberal spray of brake cleaner? Any lubrication of particular parts?

Also, are the instructions on how to disable the EPB the same for the D4? (Because the bible is D3 based I believe)

I have been searching for this also... it's in the workshop manual 206-05 Parking brake and Actuation called 'Shoes'. From my reading rather than experience it appears if you haven't been doing any 'mud wading' then Bodsy's adjustment should be fine (the shoes just wear and need adjustment). But if you have been in the mud/dirty (and in my experience) salty water then you should properly clean per below... no pics but when you get there this should be enough... or download the workshop manual. Daniele posted the manuals pretty recently so search author "dgardel".

By way of correction - I was just flicking thru Bodsy's bible and the last section explains how to replace brake shoes - just follow these instructions and recommended lube points for a clean/lube. Assume just make sure the shoes and drums are clean prior to replacement.
