Damn Ya beat me to it!
Waiting for one of the dual-channel GSM modules to arrive, the plan is to use one channel for the FFBH and the other for the heated screen, all I need to do now is decide if I want to use the two inputs for low battery alarms or if there is some way I can get an security alarm output from the CJB
BTW, Arsi & JakobVels did this a year ago

That is superb. Very nice. What's the next stage - texting your desired cabin temperature to it?
I can live with being cold in the morning - but would love to have the opposite - remote triggered air-con! TDV6 SE Auto, Cairns Blue

Hi TFC,
Had exactly the same thoughts with the front screen heater but was going to use the single channel
module and a time delay relay to bring the screen heater on for say 15 mins... Any idea what current the screen draws?

Al, the GSM module, when programmed, will only respond to a pre-selected phone number (upto 64 different numbers can allocated). This GSM unit was originally designed for operating secure car park barriers hence the need for 64 different phone numbers . The company is called Quantek and the chap I dealt with is called Terry. Wiggs give us a bell when you're back from cuckoo clock land, I spotted same heat and flame proof boxes that will sit in the space behind the FBH Is that your head or as your neck been sick?

You could also add simple vehicle tracking by using a service like this
http://www.followus.co.uk/
to provide simple tracking of the mobile phone (GSM) unit in the car. Not highly accurate but within 100m in built up area or up to 10km in scottish highlands - depends on the density of the cell masks (according to their blurb anyway, never tried it myself)

| Webasto Original Products |
|
Hi,
May be I missed something in previous discussions...I know You spent many hours and it seems all works well BUT, why You did not use original Webasto products?
1. Webasto T91 Telestart RF remote control compatible with both Analogue as well as W-Buss outputs suitable and recommended even for Thermo Top V FBH, thus one we have used in our Discos. Switch On and Switch Off function with Red LED lamp on Remote ebanling see whether system works or not. Operating Distance is up to 1 km...no manual control box like Webasto 1533 is needed.
2. Webasto Thermo Call- GSM based control unit with feedback to Your phone ...also suitable for our Thermo Top V device without any modification. You can use sms or voice recognition control method.
Both systems mentioned above are supplied with Y cables and plugs. Of course both of them are able to pre-heat engine only without warming up-interior...it is Land Rover Firmware problem which will be fixed in future I hope. But does not matter. most important is that engine is warm as soon as You start up, so warm air can intake inside immediately. Call my car plain: D3nosaur
