Painting the bumpers and things black have made a difference.

Although no matter what shape of number plate you put on it. It still needs redesigned!

I'd heard that the delay isn't down to the Velar going through the line, rather it's due to the lack of parts for the dog-cage each D5 needs for the safe transportation of the owner's guide dog.

That is cruel and funny in equal measure!! Snigger
And white stick.

Poland 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Java BlackDiscovery 3

I posted my opinion to the autoexpress discussion yesterday, as the rear end of the D5 appears to be the greatest problem, not forgetting the restricting shape of the c pillar to the rear seats and the awkward and flimsy looking drop down shelf.

I have a disco 3 and i most certainly do not like the newer version. When i first saw the Disco 3 on the road back in 2005, I instantly wanted to have one due to its bold stance and design. The current model to me appears too fussy and would not make me replace the Disco 3 for anything other than the Disco 4.
The Disco 3 looks solid from the rear even with the square number plate offset to the left side. The split tailgate is also better and specifically designed on the 3 with the curved shape of the lower section. However, i can see how the current model is trying to copy the curved shape / design of the 3 but in my opinion it doesn't work.
The tailgate of the Disco 3 appears much less distorted than the current Discovery and much more natural to look at and raises no questions.
Perhaps they should consider the square number plate option on the new model and to be positioned on the left side.
I have seen some Disco 3's abroad with the long rectangular plates as it is not always possible to buy the square ones and it certainly doesn't look the same.
So it must come down to the shape of the number plate to direct the design?

Desperate explanation from McGovern. If you look at the photos in all the D5 brochures, the orange RCC 361 and silver 768 KAS are both the broad plates of the type about which he his whinging. Clutching. Straws.

I've seen a few here on Geneva roads by now with our Swiss license plates. We have rather thin plates here, but the car from the rear just looks Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

Personally I think some of the dealers have found the optimum solution to the rear styling:

Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE and 2013 MY D4 HSE
Previously:
TD5 Defender 110 CSW (230k miles)
300TDi Disco 1 (289k)
4 RR Classics (300-350k each, 2 manual, 2 auto)
110 V8 CSW (220k)
S3 109 hi cap pickup (ex RN)
S2A 88 Safari SW with lpg conversion (bloody lethal)
