Cornwall Greenlanes

Hi All,

Im off down to Cornwall today.

Just wondering if anyone has any D4 suitable lanes they know about, that i should maybe look at if i get time? Don't want to damage or scratch the D4!

Im staying down around Truro, so any localish would be great. I grew up down there, so know the areas well, but never really done much laning in the area. Thumbs Up

Best get an up to date os map and look for marked byways. The other option would be to speak directly with the local row officer or glass rep.

cheers chaps.

I am happy to find lanes, i usually use the council interactive map which shows the BOATS etc.

https://map.cornwall.gov.uk/website/ccmap/...20of%20Way

Obviously the issue is i don't know the lanes, so either have to walk them first, or potentially reverse back if i don't fancy part of it.

Just looking to see really if anyone has been down any recently that they can recommend. Seems lots around Twelveheads, but no idea what they are like.

Taking my bike down, so could always try a few on the bike first Thumbs Up

Good idea with the bike! I did a lit of walking there in the summer, and whilst I have no idea whether I was walking legal row for motor vehicles, they were all pretty overgrown. Maybe take some shears with you to clear any undergrowth?

If they are overgrown, is it fine to clear, or do you need to seek permission first?

Cheers for your input Thumbs Up

I think it's ok within reason? Certainly when I've been green laning in the past, I've used some hedge clippers (hand operated) pruning shears and a small hand saw to clear a problem branch or hedge.

I've seen some go equipped with the full forestry gear! Chainsaws, petrol hedge cutters, axes etc. Personally I think it is a bit over the top. If I came across a lane that was severely overgrown ( sadly very common now fewer people are using legal row in motor vehicles) then it should be reported to local authority. They have a duty to keep legal row clear for permitted use.

Unfortunately very little around here. Either overgrown and reduced to single horse width, or tarmaced.
If you can find one, I've probably already tried it at some point ... or happy to test it Very Happy

My favorite is Levant to Botallack Thumbs Up
