2016 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 Landmark LE Auto Santorini Black

Has someone tried to break into my D4

A bit of an odd one,

SWMBO has been out today and parked in a car park. When she returned the tailgate light was dangling out and the plastic clip that holds it in was broken.

It’s one of the two lights either side of the tailgate handle/release switch.

Just wondering if anyone knows of anything similar?

Or SWMBO has bumped it and not owning up.... likely 2016 D4 Landmark

You can take the rear lights off with the lower tailgate closed but no idea re with the upper tailgate closed. I'd have thought if it was dangling then the potential thief would have just disconnected it or, like I had to do as clip wouldn't release, just cut the cables/loom.

Do you mean the number plate lights. If so they are only held in by plastic lugs which could easily snap. May be a warranty issue?

hmmm ... my MY2011 ones are a PITA to remove/refit. Bad batch ?

I've seen a RRS theft video where they "do something to rear lights" but not heard of it on D4.

someone posted on a number-plate light discussion that they wanted LED panels to replace the normal ones and didn't want to just put LEDs in the standard parts due to bits falling out with normal use of door.

Not heard of any method of breaking into a Disco that would involve taking those lights out. But I suppose you never know. Maybe someone wanted that light though.

I heard on the radio today that car thefts in the UK is up on previous years by about 20% (I think if I recall correctly). The thoughts being that in recent decades, as security has got better the thieves had a hard time, but the thieves technology is now catching up.
