New brake pads?
Here’s the best pic I could get of the rear pads on my folk’s D4. New brake pads needed?

They look like new to me, rears don't wear like the front, can't remember ever changing mine and I'm on 99969 miles , but I drive normal not like Lewis Hamilton. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

That pad looks 'as new' but the disk looks pitted, like that pad isn't fully applying. What's the inside pad looking like?Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

What I thought but the cheeky so&so’s in Ratstones Cardiff did the usual sucking air through teeth and said it’ll need new pads by Christmas, basically did my father want to book it in then!! The car is 1 year old and done 5,500 miles. Told them they should have taken it to Shukers!

No idea re inner pad, but car’s not been out for a few days and was prob put away with wet discs. It is Wales and it has been known to rain a wee bit.

Mot minimum std is friction the thickness of a 5pence coin, normal people start to think about changing them when the friction material is the same thickness as the steel backing plate itself and even then there will be an easy 5k safety net assuming both pads have worn even.

5,500 miles, even they can't be that thick can they. If it does then there must be a problem which must be covered under warranty.......... wonder how they would react to that?Joined the BMWX5 45e group

LR recommend 3mm minimum, mine had 13mm new, so 10mm to play with
