What is this??

Found rolling around on the floor in the passanger side front foot well. No idea what it is and don't know if it's from the car or not. Some sort of radio suppression thingie? Thinking about it, it may be from the dashcam fitting. Anyone know what it is?

Looks like a ferrite ring (think that’s the name) as you say probably from your dash cam

Sounds right, it's quite heavy for its size. Thumbs Up

Hard to tell for sure, but it looks like a ferrite bead. Used on lots of electrical cords to suppress electrical interference.

Does it have a metal ring inside that looks a little like a magnet?

May well be from the dashcam, although it looks bigger than I would have expected for that. More like something you would find on a tv or DVD player.
 King of the typo.

MY11 D4 5.0 V8, Bournville, lots of goodies!

Now departed: '85 RR Vogue, '94 D1, '95 D1, '70 SIIA, '97 D1, '04 D2a. All V8, except for the SIIA - but that drank as much petrol anyway!

Yep, definitely a ferrite bead.

Chuck it in a safe place and if you notice anything odd, go and fail to find it again. Laughing

I’ve always found them unnecessary on most devices.

As above but the cable size needed looks too big for a dashcam. Could it be off a laptop power cable?

It's off the supply cable to the cloaking device.

sometimes they are fitted by looping cable through, round the back then through again.

If you have a Nextbase dashcam, they come fitted as standard on the power cable. They are fairly easily dislodged.
