Anyone used a RAW Jack (Trek Overland) or other solution?
All,
I've recently bought a 2014 Disco and have been happily lining the whole boot, fitting my dog cage, and 101 other things that travel around with us. I then got a flashback of changing a flat tyre on my Disco 3, and having to empty everything out, at the side of a wet road. Remember thinking it's a shame that the wheel is mounted outside, yet you still have to turf everything out of the boot like a normal car!
Had a look to see if there were any solutions and saw the RAW Jack that is advertised on here, but can't see any reviews for it. Does anyone have one, and are they any good? Or are there any other solutions?
Can you access the winch point by raising just one of the 3rd row seats, or do you have to lift them both? If it's the former, I can probably get by with it, but if both seats have to be raised I can see it being a royal pain in the when the inevitable happens.
Cheers!
Rich

Not heard of Raw Jack, but I use a very simple process to get to the winch - you can just see the top of the extension in from of the dog crate (Click on image to expand image)

As you can see my boot is full, so I just use a socket with extension that I can access without removing everything. The socket extension is a bit of a fiddle to get inbetween the two seats, but it works perfectly for me (Disco 3, but should be fine also for a 4)
No idea if it's still available, but drop the OP a pm if interestedIggy/Ieuan

If it's an MY14 you may have a hook/eye set up instead if a nut to lower the winch, real PITA to usePaul.

Thanks guys - I did wonder if I can fabricate some sort of link/extension myself. But yes, it's a 2014 so I think it uses the winding handle/hook for the standard jack, which is probably going to make the home-made fix more tricky.
Someone will probably nick the spare wheel soon, then I won't have to worry about removing it myself

If this is an issue for you, then you should get a wheel protector from RLD asap

Yes, it's on the list but I only have a steel space saver on there at the moment and was hoping nobody would be bothered about pinching that. Will definitely buy a plate once I get a full size spare.

They will pinch your space saver, but worse still they will cut your winch cable to do so, you'll then have a cost of replacement spare and the much more costly new winch and don't forget the fitting!
I would send a PM now if I were you, no idea of costs, but cheap when you compare to the costs of nat having one Iggy/Ieuan

Ok, good advice, thank you.
I've seen a few different branded ones for sale, but it sounds like there's someone on here selling them? Can you point me in the right direction please? Thanks!
