REAR DIFF FILLER PLUG STRIPPED |
|
Hi all,
On wanting to drain rear diff oil I found the filler plug is stripped - tool just turns in plug hole.
Any ideas to get the plug out will be appreciated.
Thanks you very much.

Weld a socket into it to remove it.

As Pete K says, not very elegant, but sometimes effective.
Or try an imperial size, they are often half-way between metric sizes New gearbox & TC, 3 x front wheel bearings, belts changed, new oil pump, new battery, new rear prop, new front prop, new front diff, front arb refurbed, front cv boot kit, egr blank and BAS software patch, full rear suspension / drivelive rebuild, new front arms, LED trailer light fix, split charge.
Never had a 107, 90 or 127, but have had most of the rest!

I thought mine had stripped as well, spent ages, then realised it was the wrong plug !
There are a number of things that look like a fill plug, and the one you want is hidden up the side. And is flush or almost flush with the diff.
I feel terribly embarrassed about it, but if it saves you from the same embarrassment, I am prepared to look like an idiot!

I initially thought you meant the thread was stripped, obviously not!

Did not drain diff - was taught by forum members - and listened - to first remove filler plug.
I will try torx socket as it seems to have more "grip" - thanks everybody.
