Discovery 3 GS upgrade.

Hi Guys
I'm a newbie that needs every body's help, I have the discovery 3 GS and a couple of days ago I installed the new steering wheel with the with the buttons for the radio and the cruse control which work fine, I also have the side buttons for the phone and voice command, I want all these buttons to work but im finding it very hard to find out what I will need to have my phone connected to the car, I have the single cd radio with the buttons under the display screen. I'm not great with cars but not afraid to challenge myself. If any body can guide me in the right direction or give me info on what I need to do that would be mint!

Thanks in advance Honest Kev. Thumbs Up

Radio needs to have bluetooth and if it's a OEM radio, it may need the CCF editing to enable that.

Look through the Forum sub folders for D3 upgrade efforts. Thumbs Up

OEM = Original Equipment Manufacture (Googled)

CCF = Software that controls how the vehicle ECU's talk to the vehicle

To enable your phone to work, you need something like this

https://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/kit801-d...1557-p.asp

once that kit is fitted you would need the Car Config File updated, this is done using a diagnostic tool, one being the GAP IID unit. However I'm not sure if that unit will work with your radio, I think you need the radio with the 1 - 9 buttons but may be wrong.

If you can get the parts in working order, then yes, you could, but it would be a faff and probably not very cost-effective. Thumbs Up

Unfortunately, Sea Raider is not wrong. You need to have the 6 CD head unit, amp (either the standard one or the Logic 7) and bluetooth module all hooked up on the MOST loop (fibre optic communications system that links the various infotainment modules) to get those functions working. The high line head unit forms the CANBUS (communications system for the rest of the car) interface and bus master of said MOST loop, and sadly, the basic head unit doesn't use the MOST loop and has a built in amp instead. IIRC, the voice control is typically hosted by the Multi Media Module (Navigation) but I believe the bluetooth module can do so instead and is used where navigation isn't fitted.

Much easier would be to find an aftermarket solution - in which can having no MOST loop to keep going makes it a simple case of fitting your choice of double DIN unit.

Thumbs Up

PS: The best chap to talk to if you wanted to get this going would probably be wiggs. Thumbs Up

I appreciate all your comment guys I really do, Just hard to get my head round it when I'm a bit green at these upgrades, but learning all the time.

I know this has probably been covered before thanks Sky net, it's just finding my way round the place.

So would a single cd radio player like mine with the buttons under the display window come out and fit the 6 cd multi changer that some of the d3 have fit straight in its place??

Don't give up on my guys I'll get there. Bow down
