Thanks again people
I'm hoping it's nothing internal, as it isn't knocking etc and isn't there permanently, only when fully up to temp and idle only.
I will keep you updated.
Currently feeling like spending more on a seriously well looked after example hasn't paid off, hopefully this will be a simple fix and it will pay off in the future ha

It's really odd as it sounded lovely before this, the only thing I will say is it disappears when revved, goes back to sounding smooth, then once revs drops the tapping comes back.
It probably doesn't help that the video isn't picking it up very well.
The silver pulley tensioner thing wobbles around quite a bit, is that normal?
Thanks for your comments guys, I really appreciate your input.
All the auto belt tensioners bob up and down in use, if you ask me its a poor design as the number of cycles on the pivot bush must be unreal, hence the reason they wear and skew the belt slightly off to one side causing the sqeaking noise.

So, the people at the specialist have heard the videos and their response took me by surprise.
They have said doesn't sound good at all and do not start it under any circumstances.
I didn't expect that, I really didn't think it sounded THAT bad. I can't hear it from either side of the engine very well, only really shows from the grill.
Don't really see what it could be that is serious as it's just had all the cambelt etc done, what else could it be that serious?
It's definitely not a knock.

The specialist have had it and have said it was tappets, they've ran a flush and put new oil in and say it's now all good and that this is quite common.

They said the oil pressure was excellent.
Would this diagnosis concern you guys? Or would you be happy with that?

Unfortunately only time will tell. Mine went from sounding sweet as a nut to absolutely horrific in a handful of miles.
PS Mine had been a bit tappety for the last few years/40k, it was better on posh diesel and worse on the cheap stuff.

They said to me a lot of their customers run a flush through every oil change as they do get quite noisy, some more than others. So I'm hoping it's just another D3 quirk

That's what scares me about this car, the way it can go from being great to sticking its middle finger up at you within in a few miles. From what I've read anyway.
I'm going to stick with it my partner loves it, but secretly I'm nervous haha.
The specialist we use have said they've seen 2 engine failures on D3 and both were oil pump casing failures.
They run a D3 which is currently just under 200k, which fills me with a bit more confidence, but I appreciate it's a bit of a lottery.
