Memory seat module YWC500800 problems

2008, TDV6, HSE

Hi Guys & Gals.

A few weeks ago after being cheesed off by the L.H. door mirror losing the plot, position wise, despite disabling the Lazy Seats option, I bit the bullet and bought a new (Genuine) memory module YWC 500800.
After refitting the new module, I discovered that the Steering column electrical adjustment was as dead as a Dodo-it had worked perfectly with the old module. I felt that the new module was faulty and returned it under warranty. After removal the original unit was fitted and the steering column adjustment & memory store worked as it always had.
The replacement module (New, in LR box) arrived last week and I fitted it today. Lo & behold, the Steering wheel adjustment is not working and there are no signs of life from the adjustment motors despite my Lynx showing output voltage from the adjustment switch for fore & aft plus up & down directions.
The new module label is identical to the original apart from the date of manufacture.
I think that the possibility of two new modules having the same fault remote and assume that the module is just "Plug & Play". I cannot see any options on the Lynx to initialise or configure it to the vehicle.
Before I take a trip to the local Main Stealer, can any of you with other diagnostics or prior knowledge offer any advice. Bow down
All connections to the module connectors are secure and when the original is refitted, the column adjustment works.

Thanks Sad Question Question

I guess you need to edit the Ccf file and tell it you have Elec steering adjustment fitted

You need IIDtool or similar. Editing itself is just click-click via GUI if you have the BT version.

I looked on You Tube some time ago and saw an item about accessing the vehicle configuration through the Satnav screen. I have tried this and am unable to open the feature by holding the top part of the screen in order to input the code keypad. I can not see any reference to CCF on the Lynx.

Never seen a Lynx in the wild Rolling with laughter IID really does and you can change settings per subsystem (control module) but I guess that doesn't help you right now Smile

Many thanks for the input Guys....appreciated Bow down Bow down

I have only had the Lynx a short while, the manual is not very instructive. I previously had a Faultmate for my P38 which I found excellent and gave me full access to all the electronic systems including BECM unlock & programming.
Confused Confused

It must be already enabled or it would not operate with the old module, it would not be the first time LR have had a bad batch of components. Have you checked the settings on the indicator stalk? - although same again if they where wrong the original would not work. I have changed several in the past and with different part numbers as the module has been updated several times, nearly always after changing the module the fault has been found in the wiring.
Before you take it back remove the seat squab, put seat max height and remove four torque screws accessed from under the seat, beware of heated seat cable when lifting squab out and check all cables and connectors. Thumbs Up

I have gone through the connector wiring and harness condition with a fine toothed comb and all looks good.
The module is the latest version and has identical part no. to the original (YWC500800), the information on the labels are identical apart from the manufacturing date.
I bought the first module from a LR dealer on the web,it was brand new and inside a sealed anti static bag. It was returned under warranty and a replacement sent to me. The dealer is about 150 miles away.
The dealer does not keep these in stock, they are ordered by him from LR. He is a specialist LR parts supplier both genuine and OEM. These are genuine LR parts not aftermarket spurious copies.

Finally managed to get into the settings pages on the satnav screen including Vehicle Config pages but cannot see any reference to the memory function module but to be perfectly honest I am unsure whether the items can be read or changed or whether it is Read Only without specific software/equipment.
Phoned the local Stealer this morning and the earliest they can fit me in is early November Surprised

I think you will find that the settings relevant to memory are held in the memory module.

There isn't one global place on the car that holds what is fitted and what isn't.

If you had someone with an IID BT near you, they could get into the settings in less than a minute.

I doubt you can do with thru the nav screen as that is ICE options/settings

I have never had to go into the CCF when I have fitted one, although steering adjustment has not been involved.
The new modules come with a default setting and I have not had any involvement with memory steering, have you set the position up and saved it?-I don't even know how it is saved with steering.
If the steering activation information is stored in the memory module which I doubt) why can't it be put in another vehicle and configured (an Iid tool owner) and then put back in yours, just an idea Whistle

Thanks again Guys for your inputs...appreciated.
the control switch for the column settings operates the same as an electric mirror switch. There are two positions on it Manual and Auto. Basically, the seat, mirror and column, positions are adjusted manually and the column switch set to Auto then saved to say position 1. The procedure is then repeated to suit position 2.

Can I now send out an appeal for anyone in the N. Wales/Cheshire area who is an IID or possibly a Faultmate owner to run a check over the system. The car drives normally and I can come to you-obviously beer tokens will be in order Very Happy Bow down Bow down Bow down

Steering column
Mirror
Driver seat
Pedal (jaguar)

Positions are all stored in the memory module against positions 123 (per key!)

Yes you could move the module about but not too practical now the owner has working mirrors

UPDATE
Have today spoken to a LR specialist in Birmingham who I used to carry out Becm programming for and they advise that the column adjustment/memory function needs to be re-initialised with suitable diagnostics and the lynx does not have the capability. If I cannot find anyone within reasonable distance to me-the Main Stealers are a waste of time, quoting 3 weeks to look at it Surprised I will get it done the next time I am in the Midlands.
Thanks for your interest in this topic Guys and all the input.
Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
