Flat battery and bonnet problem.
Hi all.
My D3 has been left for some time due to work and the use of a company vehicle. But I now have a dead flat battery. So flat the emergency access lock hasn't got enough power to activate.
I know this has been asked and dealt with many times before, and I have tried to research this. However the subject has been censored for obvious reasons.
I have tried to power the car though the aux power socket on the tow point but no joy. Either there is something stopping the power go into the car or the battery is consuming the power.
My next port of call is the front grille, but an afternoon of faffing has lead nowhere.
Is there any legit way to get pics of the front grille removal?
Thanks.

Hi. Yes the front passenger door behind the removable handle cover.
It doesn't seem to work. Turns but doesn't do anything.
Assumed it just triggered the central locking in the event of a key going flat or faulty.
I have read in the past that they don't alway work due to lack of use.
Thanks.

I was just going to suggest the caravan socket, but re-read and seen you have already tried it. Are you sure you're on the right pins?

Well reading into it I've tried pins 3 and 4 believing them to be earth and live direct from the battery..
Unless others can be suggested?
Thanks.

Hi Blakey_A - if using the 12S I believe it is pin 3 (earth) and pin 6 (+ feed from battery).
I am just about to modify an old spare 12N male plug to take the leads from my CTek charger so that I can plug into the 12S socket. So I hope I have given the correct info...LeighW
The old girl is on her third engine...
* first ran a bearing (design failure in original engine)
* second had a failure of the water outlet on top of the engine (pls check yours)

It's pins 3 earth, and 4 direct battery live.
6 is an ignition switched live.

You're not turning the emergency key far enough, it takes brute force without breaking the key of course to open the lock.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
