A problem seems to be arising with my MY07 car. Occasionally (and getting more frequent), the front passenger door won't unlock from the key fob (2x pressing) or from the unlock button on the dash. It also will not physically unlock by pulling the handle. BUT, if I turn the ignition on then off and try again, all is well. All other doors unlock as normal.
Any suggestions as to whether this is a known issue or something peculiar to my car? Also, of course, how to cure it please?

I’d suggest a replacement is needed. Much easier to do if you can get the door open
My driver side door lock went like yours and one day just wouldn’t open.

My rear door would open probably once in ten times, to open it internally you had to pull the silver release handle AND the little black lock handle at the same time, this worked every time, new genuine LR door lock/latch from ebay for 60 quid fixed it once and for all.

Common fault, replacement latch required, easyish diy fix fiddly and knuckle skinning but about an hour with basic tools. Done 3 of mine to date, bought new off ebay each time👍

I replaced the drivers door lock yesterday following the excellent guide on this site. I took the external handle off (2 mins) but managed to break the clip that holds the handle end cap on so have to order a new one. Hardest job was disconnecting the glass, definitely a two person job but once done the rest is easy. I took the remove external handle route as it was easy then to get the cable of the lock and refit to new lock. Total time including tea breaks was two and a half hours.
I left the window mech inside the door and it was not a problem. Take your time. 8)
