Exhaust downpipe
09 plate 2.7 tdv6
Guys, trying to remove the downpipe from the turbo as I need to change the brake pipes that run above it but I’m stuck on how to get the 3 nuts off! I have one off on the inner most side but the one at the top and the one on the outside of the vehicle I can’t seem to get to to get them off! Have the propshaft removed and heat shield off but I can’t seem to get a good enough angle with the socket extension and wiggle bit to get them off.
Am I missing an easy way to remove them?

Normally folk cut the brake pipes above the removed exhaust silencer and replace the rear end of the pipes as it's a lot easier.Stu

Yep that’s been done already to this truck but the two pipes that run above the heat shield for the CAT have rusted and are ready to blow. Just behind the front left wheel as the go upwards to the engine compartment. I do see a joint in the engine bay just below the scuttle tray but there’s no way in hell of getting to it so just need to joint before the rusted section

I ganged 2x uni's. The one one closest the job end was a 1/2 inch swivel ball style which allows less angle so less torque loss and is stronger (recommend the black rattle gun one for durability). Use only 6pt sochets.
