Rebuilt Gearbox / Digital Tachograph |
|
I have a Digital Tachograph fitted to my D4 Commercial.
The Tachograph has been working fine but has now stopped working.
I have also just had the torque converter replaced and gearbox rebuilt.
The tachograph is the type that uses a CAN bus adaptor to pick up a speed signal from the CAN bus.
My tachograph installer seems to think that having the work on the gearbox done has somehow stopped the right signal appearing on the CAN Bus for the tachograph to pick up.
I have plugged in my IID tool and there are no fault codes that I can see.
The speedo is working and when I use the IID tool to look at live values I can see the wheel speed and vehicle speed displayed.
So the question is what is causing my tachograph to stop working? If it is connected to the gearbox which sensor puts the signal on the CAN bus for the tachograph to pick up?

I am using my IID tool to look at live values.
Under the transmission there is a value called Turbine Speed (rpm).
When I look at this value I get N/A even when driving.
Should I be be able to read a value here?
The transmission shaft output value works as expected.
Can someone else with an IID confirm?
