Why do mobile providers make life difficult.....
Am with O2, been with them for years, and very happy with coverage, service and mobile app, etc. but monthly cost is high funding the iPhone on the current contract.
That contract ending today and having bought an iPhone 7 of my own am switching to SIM only.
There are cheaper deals out there but happy with package on 02 at 16gb data and unlimited minutes and texts for £16/month and nothing to do except press confirm on my app to switch to that account. Job done.
But then I get an email confirming my new deal but it's £26/month. WTF
Have to log online and message them. They then tell me that I have to apply for a £10 discount as a 'valued customer', eh?????
As I am on live chat I open up the site and it doesn't say that anywhere, the email confirmation I had doesn't say it anywhere. I wonder what trading standards would make of that........
You have to send them a text and they then will confirm your eligibility to the discount within three days. What if it's a 'no', again that isn't covered on the web offers link.
Moaned a bit and they've upped me to 20gb for same price (I've never used more than 3.1gb in a month before) so am OK with that but still do not 'get' how they operate......

Here the providers seem to increase monthly charges annually by €2 or so. This is particularly annoying when one has three minions all who believe it is their birthright to have a mobile subscription.
The minions mostly use WhatsApp to chat with their friends and tend to watch YouTube where there’s WiFi the cost is negligible to the service provider. None of them call much and they use 0 SMS since as a responsible parent I’ve taught that best things in life are free. We didn’t have a D3 back then...
Thus, I have to annually threaten and cajole the service provider(s) to match prices across the three kids or I move all three away to someone else. Since the market is mostly saturated they tend to give rebates rather than lose 3 subscriptions so I’m reasonably happy as the family CFO and the detente continues for the next 11 months again.......
This year one minion got a significantly lower monthly cost than the other two had for some strange reason. The official explanation was that their CRM “did not allow them to bill at a higher rate for the same plan as the two others and it didn’t seem possible to change this in any way”. Well, who am I to argue with such rocket scientists?

It's not about cheaper, I'm happy with the price (on 6gb, and especially so on 20gb) and I'm sticking with O2 anyway - just that question about why are they so convoluted on their deals - do they think people won't notice and just pay the extra cost so they only have to apply it to people that 'notice' it?

I was with O2 for years for myself and swmbo. Both phones were due to be replaced. O2 deals were £42 a month each. Tranaferred to Sky with same details and they run on O2 network and £29 each. You get free unlimted text and calls if existing Sky tv or broadband customer aswell.2006 TdV6 HSE.

Yep, anything over £10/month should be unlimited calls & texts, above that just buys data.

When I changed my daughter’s contract I walked into 3 to do it all went fine. The guy said that I had 2 other phones that were nearly at the end of contract (about 6 weeks by my reckoning) so I dropped both of those to sim only deals and saved about £60pm. Nice and simple, thank you 3 👍🏻DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone
