Towing Electrics Routing Question |
|
Hi guys,
Hope everyone is enjoying the nice weather for a change
I have just bought a quick release detachable towbar, which took all of 5 seconds to install, and on the face of it, the wiring kit that I have bought from Britpart seems fairly simple to follow.
What I am not sure of, is the routing of the wiring from the (look at the back of the disco), left hand rear interior panel to the compartment integrated into the bumper to house the socket.
The wiring instructions are easy to follow, but I am unsure how I route the actual cables. The printed instructions does not really go into this.
Do I need to drop the spare wheel and get underneath to route the cables, or can it be done from inside?
As usual, I appreciate any help that anyone can provide.
I am not technical, so dummies version would be appreciated!!!!!

Hi Mark,
It might be worth looking at the official LR instructions as well?
Last two rows on this page are the tow electrics: http://www.disco3.co.uk/wiki/Owner_Information_Mirror 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Martin,
Thank you! That makes it clear that all I need to do it drop the spare and route the cables via the pre-defined route (and it looks like there are also some retaining clips)!
Brilliant.
Have a great day and thanks again.

Just beware of the swing “balls” at the back, they aren’t to be interfered with It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Just seen those. No wonder it weighs 2.7 tonnes lugging those things around...
What do they do? Can I cash them in at the scrap yard..?(!)

Harmonic dampers! They swing in time with the shudders!

They are harmonic dampers, to reduce noise, vibration and harshness.
As suggested don't interfere with them.

Thanks for the information, I learn more about this car everyday.
I have not touched my harmonic dampers, but I confess to giving them a little twang..
