D3 sunroof drain elbow confirmed replacement part number

Dear all,

Thought it would be worth throwing this up.

As I’ve psoted about lots, I’ve got significant sunroof drain issues. I’ve already replaced the front 2, and have the two rear to go.

LR dealer has said the part number for the front drain is EEH500100, which as about £15, and if you had to replace the whole thing, this would be correct

But for most, it is simply the elbow at the end that has malfunctioned, and usually just needs this replacing.

Found the updated technical bulletin, posted up by Bullhead here on the forums, and it details the repair procedure for each drain corner on the LR3.

Key is it references part EEH500120, which is actually the drain for the Range Rover sport!

The bulletin describes harvesting the elbow from this part and using it to replace the malfunctioned elbow on the LR3. I’ve done this on the front drivers side so can confirm it works.

Difference is that this part is just £4.15 inc vat from my LR dealer, meaning you can do all 4 corners for little more than the price of one LR3 specific part!

Now, the hose that comes with the EEH500120 is actually longer than the one that comes in the EEH500100, so even if you needed to replace the entire front drain, you could still use the Range Rover part as long as you trim it down carefully. Not long enough for the rear drain though, but tbh all the hoses I’ve seen so far have been fine, it’s just the elbows.

Happy days.

Hope this helps

Mikeyb : There a time consuming job, well documented on here and on a few utube videos. Not particularly difficult and no specialist knowledge required.

They are however worth doing, as the damage from water getting into the electrics will cost a lot more than a few quid to sort.

Who wants water sodden carpets in a car anyway Very Happy

Front passanger : real PITA. The “central junction boxl makes life difficult.

Front driver : easier to get access to, but covered by wiring looms so getting into it awekward. I ended up taking off air intakes grill, pulling out the foam former, and pushing the drain elbow into the cabin from outside. Then took the A pillar trim off, and pulling the drain tube up so I could work on it from there. Also meant I could direct the drain tube outside of the cabin in order to flush it through without worrying about water all over the wiring looms. Trim the existing tube, as per the technical bulletin, push on the new elbow, and feed the tube back down the A pillar. Couldn’t get enough leverage to push it back through the bulkhead, so had to locate it through the hole and pull the tip via the air intake.

Rear Passanger: undo a couple of bolts to pull the rear quarter panel trim back a bit and expose the elbow. Looks like it should be easy. Will do that Monday.

Read driver : should be same as other side.

There are YouTube vids for these. drivers side and passanger side. These are US vids though, so sides swapped, and annoyingly for us that means the difficult one, the one with the CJB,is on the left which is the side without the airintake, whereas for them the CJB is on the right.

I disconnect the battery when doing these, just in case water goes where it shouldn’t, as all the drain elbows havd some level of wiring around them. I mean, really? Not great design.
