Drive heated seat not working |
|
My drivers heated seat RHD has stopped working.
The 2 lights come on when you turn it on but it doesn't heat up.
The passenger and rear heated seats all work.
I have checked the fuses in the engine bay and they look ok.
It stopped working after the seat got really hot (nearly burnt me!!!) and then just stopped working ie not heating up.
If you have any idea of what could be wrong please let me know.

The heating element has burnt out!- common fault nearly always in the fold of the seat foam. New elements(pad) are about £100 depending if it is leather of cloth covered seats.
They can be repaired as it is literally a wire that has burnt out, possible temporary get out is to swap the seat base with passenger side It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Think passenger seat has an occupancy sensor built in?

Four torx headed screws underneath the base and the wiring plug, the screws are bloody tight for some reason.

With great difgiculty take the base out, take the base cover off and there it is, about 3 hours. Sounds easy but it is a pain particularly putting the cover back on if you haven't done one before. It's imperative you use the correct size torque bit on a ratchet to get the screws out, otherwise it will be a full day of cursing. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

You start by using the Search.
You have to remove the upholstery covering which is clipped underneath, start at the front edge and release across the front and sides. Peel back the cover to reveal the seat base. You should be able to easily spot the place where the element is burnt out. Mods:
