Proposal :IID codes detailed on the wiki |
|
Dear all,
So have gotten my IDD BT tool and good news is no more turbo error; thanks again Bodsy
Bad news is a few other faults that have appeared since being cleared, but nothing major as I understand it.
Got me thinking though, as I was desperately trying to wrap my limited intellect around what I was reading.
Would there be value in starting a subsection under the IID Tool section in the wiki, listing all the fault coses as people come across them, and giving a description of its meaning, possible causes, and suptoms people experience, alone with fixes and live values to monitor to confirm the diagnosis.
Also thinking that a separate subsection on live values, what the are actually relating to, their importance and meaning, limits, and usefulness in diagnosis of issues.
Perhaps even live value recipes for periodic preventive monitoring as a ‘health check’ of different component systems.
If any of that makes sense.
Is there value to this, or am I alone in my thought?
Kind regards
Andy

I suggested similar when I first joined up here. Martin the forum owner I believe was supportive of the idea but was suggesting someone else compile it!
Ideally if setting something up there ought to be some sort of pro-forma that anyone could add their experience to. Bit beyond my basic IT skills though I'm afraid.
I am however still surprised that nothing already exists in the world of the Land Rover Stealer - or if it does, how come it hasn't escaped by now? After all what would a LR Tech refer to upon reading a fault code, bet it's not Google! Not such a Disco Newbie now!

The whole idea of a wiki is that it can be updated by the community ...admin just don't have the time I'm afraid.

That wasn't a dig! I appreciate that everyone's time is finite and precious, especially those running the forum for the benefit of the rest of us.
However my point was that for it to be useful, some sort of basic struture needs to be defined to avoid a long list of random and differing inputs. Not such a Disco Newbie now!

Are we community members able to update the wiki?
I tried logging in but wouldn’t allow it so assuming it’s restricted.
But, if we are, happy to get the ball rolling with what I have, though it is limited.
