Help me identify this part please!

I was cleaning up after jet washing the D3 this morning following Boughrood trip at the weekend.

In the mud on the ground near the left rear wheel/compressor area, I found this pipe. Its flexible rubber, with 90 degree bends at each end, and each end is cut at 45 degrees. No part number on it, just the letters EPDM at one end. I am pretty sure it has come from my car. Everything seems to be working. Any ideas?

No rear aircon fitted. Fuel filler is t'other side. It was found next to the left rear wheel.

I've just driven 7 miles to the office and it seems to be normal.

Wikipedia reveals quite a lot.

Quote:
EPDM rubber (ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber) is an elastomer which is characterized by wide range of applications. EPDM rubber is used in vibrators and seals; glass-run channel; radiator, garden and appliance hose; tubing; washers; belts; and electrical insulation. It is also used as a medium for water resistance in high-voltage polymeric cable jointing installations, roofing membrane, geomembranes, rubber mechanical goods, plastic impact modification, thermoplastic, vulcanizates, as a motor oil additive, pond liner, electrical cable-jointing and chainmail applications.

EPDM exhibits satisfactory compatibility with fireproof hydraulic fluids, ketones, hot and cold water, and alkalis, and unsatisfactory compatibility with most oils, gasoline, kerosene, aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons, halogenated solvents, and concentrated acids.

Apart from being used in female entertainment devices Shocked its not compatible with most oils, gasoline, etc. So I reckon it must be a drain tube from somewhere.

The only other clue's are, I had just removed the remains of the rear mudflaps, and there was a lot of crap stuck behind them, it could have fallen out with the crap. The other thing is that it possibly came from somewhere else and got blown there by the jet washer.

Right, just had a look under mine, there's nothing on or near the left rear quarter that looks like that, searched Microcat for pipe, drain, tube and vent, nothing comes up that looks like it so either you've picked it up from the water or mud runs or it's missing from mine as well Shocked

No, its only about 10 inches long. Its a rubber tube. I reckon 10 and Nick are correct, and it was picked up from the mud at Boughrood.

Without a doubt, that is the hinge retaining strap on the giggle pin next to the stermofat on the double overhead tripple underhanger.

Or it may be a vent hose for the air suspension. Whistle
