Replacing Boot carpet with rubber
I am sick of the permanent wet dog smell in the car.
I want to have all the rear carpets removed and trimmed with some kind of rubber. Has anyone had this done?
Been there done that with boot mats, hatch bags, trays etc. I just want the carpet gone from the back of the seats, floor (back of 3rd row), under 3rd row and tailgate.MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

Pelyma is right, if you want to avoid that smell you need to contain the dog/s.
You could get search of an automotive trimmer in your area who could do as you suggested. Be aware of what this might do to resale value though.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Whilst not wanting to replace the whole boot carpet, I'd like to replace the carpet on the tailgate with something a little harder-wearing as the truck gets used for all sorts of things, and carpet there is going to suffer.
Anyone done this? (Someone must have!)Gordon

You can buy a vinyl tailgate cover from Hatchbag. DiscoDunc was selling his own version of these as well.

how about a piece of ply cut to shape and dropped into place over the original floor and another up the rear seats (the isofix brackets would make a good fixing point for the rear of the seats)?

This solution would not only stop the car smelling of dog but would dry out the dog too.

I did that with the last disco used phenolic plywood to make a box to the exact shape of the cargo area, it weighed a ton and wasn't easy for SWMBO to remove when we need 7 seats. We need to be able to get to 7 seat configuration regularly.MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten
