What is this?

So I was relegated to the third row on the way home from a birthday meal with the family this evening, mainly to keep the two kids from killing each other, when I noticed that the C-pillar trim was a little bit loose. I suspected it might be air bag related, just seemed a bit odd that it appeared to head into the roof lining.

The side curtain airbags run along the top side of the headlining full length of car
