Towbar Electrics
Hi Guys
After some help and guidance,I have fitted a fixed Towbar to my 2005 disco 3 fitted the socket to the mounting plate but for the life of me cannot find a way to get the wire loom from the underside of the car to the inside for connection to lights ! Hopefully someone on here has fitted a Towbar and Found a way I would be grateful for the help.

Hi
I might be wrong (often am) but I'm sure if you rejoice the NS rear light cluster you will find an unused grommet specially for this purpose.

Yep, on a D4, which I assume is the same, there is a grommet behind passenger side light cluster.MY2023 Discovery 5 R-Dynamic 3.0

Oops predictive text strikes.
Clearly I intended to say remove the light cluster not rejoice it.

hi
with the light off, u will see a grommet in front of u, there are 2 x of them, one outside and one inside
the route from the towing socket is along the chassis then up into the NS corner where ur parking sensor loom is , push the wire up from below and then through the first grommet , then the other grommet inside
hope that helps

Hi gstuart
Thanks for the info, will have another go tonight now I have a better idea as to where the loom runs
Thanks once again.
Do you need to remove the rear bumper to do the wiring? I'm going to change from 12N/S to 13pin Euro connector and need to remove the original wiring and replace it.1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

no need to remove bumper - the socket loom plugs in behind the left rear light so you don't need to disturb the section that enters the body to change to 13 pin eitherPete

From Memory, I ended up with sore fingers and skinned knuckles.
Mine was a to get up behind all the things in the way...
Seem to remember not to follow the pics but to feed the wiring loom down from the rear light end of the bumper.
I did not, fitted the plug in the hole then tried feeding up to the spare grommet......nightmare!

no worries , i also found it easier taking the 2 x grommets out of the body, putting it onto the loom first, pushing the wire through the outer and inner panels then putting the grommets back after
that way u can see the wire as u thread it through the body
with the light out u can see down behind the bumper and indeed i should have also mentioned the rear bumper doesn’t have to come off

is good fun i found trying the thread the cable so it was away from the exhaust , noticed in one installation manual to use the floor grommet , i also used the one by the back light which i think many of us also used instead of that floor grommet
got to at some point take the bumper off to replace the rear sensor loom, not looking forward to that as some of the screws have already been rounded off
