D3 TDV6 suspension issue

Hi,

Please could someone give me some advise on possible repair for air suspension on D3 2005 TDV6.

The suspension rises upto maximum height but won't lower when using the hight adjuster inside the vehicle, when you drive it down the road it will display a warning 'off road hight selected' please lower vehicle to normal hight and if you keep above 30mph it will automatically adjust to normal hight, but can't be selected inside the car.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Tony

Sounds most likely to be the height switch. Should be fairly straightforward to test with IID (Live values/Suspension/Lower Switch) or jump it if you can't get access to IID.

One makes the assumption that you only click it once and do not hold it. If (when showing normal) you click once in the down direction does it go down. When down (access height) if you click up once where does it go to. If it goes to "off road" mode then you need to check the connections to the switch as something maybe shorted.

Hi highlands, please could you let me know what an IID is ? which i'm sure you can tell by my reply I don't have one of these in the tool box ! Is there a way of doing without an IID ?

Globetrotter, I have just tried to lower the car with pushing the button once and holding and it won't budge and there is no noise from the suspension at all. It stays in Normal driving mode and you can pull it up once to go in 'off road' mode but it won't comeback down to 'normal mode' by pressing the button, only by driving at 30mph.

If it is a doggy switch or connection, hows the best way to tackle the job, any advice welcome ?

Thanks

As the suspension goes up but not down to access height I think the compressor must be okay.
Here is a "youtube" on removing the centre console. This guy also removes the radios to fit a different one so you do not need to do that. Just be careful when lifting it up.

It could be the switch, (in which case pressing it will have no effect at all)

or is could be a calibration issue. When you press the switch it will start to lower (i.e switch does something) and then it may display an error message on the LCD display e.g. come aground, obstacle. and rise up again.

thanks for the video Globetrotter. Once I get to the switch can it be tested with a multimeter to see if faulty ? I take it they are not prone to having the cables falling of ? thanks.

Pete, thanks for the advise, however it doesn't have any message when trying to select lower height setting , it only displays a warning if trying to drive over 30 mph after raising to off road height and lowers it self to normal height. Fingers crossed it just a doggy switch !

you can clean the switches, like you clean a TV remove control.

Alcohol / Aftershave etc .
