Sinking suspension

Is it normal for a Discovery 3 to drop down every time you turn off & get out? My 07 Disco has done it ever since I owned it about 6yrs ago. I have recently fitted a new pump as the old one gave up the ghost & I had to drive home from Cornwall with no inflation. Every time I start now, the pump has to raise the car so I guess it it doing overtime & will end up knackered as well. Any sensible suggestions please?

No, the car shouldn't sink overnight. You've clearly got a significant leak in the system, and the compressor is working overtime to keep up with the leak, hence the new compressor!
You'll kill the new one pretty quick unless you fix the leak.
I had to replace the front struts on mine recently, as they both started leaking at the same time.

Any idea of the best way to find leaks?

When the car is at normal height, pull fuse 26 out (in the fuse box in the engine bay) and leave it overnight. The car won't be able to self level anymore, so it'll give you a first stab idea of whether it's the front or back.
If the front sinks you can start looking for leaks in the front struts or the front valve block, or the pipework.

Mine was quite obviously the struts when I sprayed them with soapy water, the bubbles were instant.

Thing is, what actually happens is that when ignition is turned off, the back sinks pretty much straight away, even on flat car park.

That'll be the most likely place to start then. Rear airbags / struts. Sounds like the self levelling doesn't even get a chance to catch up!

If the whole car sinks when you turn ignition off then it is something common to both front and rear circuits. As the rear goes first there may be a leak at or near the reservoir valve (the one in front of compressor)
