I've had a look through the threads but can't find one which matches my particular issue exactly - but apologies if this has been answered.
When unlocking the car with the smart key, I can open the driver's door no problem. The front passenger door, however, causes difficulty.
I can open it from the inside no problem. I can go round and open it from the outside - again, no problem. However, anyone else can't get in. The lock mechanism on the internal door handle appears to be locked.
The only thing, as far as I can see, which is different when I open the door from the outside is that I have the smart key in my pocket.
Any ideas as to what I can check to get this sorted? It doesn't bother me, but front-seat passengers getting fed up. 2014 - D4 2010 HSE Nara Bronze

umm - sorry if this sounds a stupid question, but are you pressing the unlock button on the remote twice? Once (and the same if you open the driver's door with the key fob in your pocket) only unlocks the driver's door. If you pull (or even just touch) the handle on any of the non-driver's doors then all the doors unlock. I'm not convinced you have a problem unless I am missing something from your description. Hey, I look forward to the days (and there have been a few) where it is user error and not real faults that cause me to bang my head Discovery 4 SDV6 HSE '65 - Projects in planning phase!

Checked it out and, sadly, there is a fault. Central locking doesn't work on the door from the key for - I opened the car and left my fob on the driver's sidestep and couldn't open the passenger door. But it WILL open if I have the smart key in my pocket...... 2014 - D4 2010 HSE Nara Bronze

That's a pain. So the rear doors unlock ok by pressing the unlock button on the key fob twice quickly, but not the front passenger door? Also does it unlock when you press the unlock button on the inside of the driver's door? It does sound like it is no longer connected to the central locking, which is usually a wiring fault. It does seem weird that it unlocks electrically when you have the key in your hand though, but maybe the keyless system is separate to the central locking. I have the exact same issue - did you ever find out what it was/how to fix it?
Cheers

On the d3 if you have the window open and pull the interior and exterior release handles and the door opens its a good sign the door latch assy has gone wrong, 80 odd quid from land rover and just over half that from ebay for the same genuine lr article.

My D4 started doing this. Seemed to be a bit sticky. Pressing the remote 3-5 times opened it. Did this regularly fro about 2 weeks. Now it works normally. MY07 Freelander2 SE Santorini Black - Gone
