Steering rack in France
I'm having trouble getting a new steering rack for my 2004 d3 LHD at a reasonable price here in France. Anyone know of a UK supplier who may be able to help?
It's not ideal because of the transport costs involved returning the used rack but it may still be cheaper.
My other idea is to rebuild the current one, ( not leaking, just slack) anyone any experience of this?
Thanks guys, Phil.

Does this help you?
https://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/lr032373...5701-p.asp - note that it is reconditioned and for RHD vehicles The part for LHDs is LR032374. AF doesn’t seem to have reconditioned ones for LHD but I guess they can get you a genuine new one. You’ll find new genuine ones at Rimmer Bros, for example, too. The price for new is...
AF and RB deliver pretty much anywhere via various shipping methods.

If I recall correctly, all the D3 steering racks are made in either Poland or Czech rep. It might be worth an ebay search globally.

I've considered the same for mine. The backlash between the pinion and rack is fairly easy to adjust, but in the case of my rack, the N/S end of rack has play up & down within the end bearing. I'm assuming there is a bearing of some sort to support the rack, but I haven't taken it apart yet to see.Richard
