This week I am going to buy a D4 cubby fridge from a fellow forum member and have a question. if I leave the fridge on I know it will flatten the battery as i my car is a D3. So the question is,as I have a T-max split charge system if i was stuck could I jump the cranking battery from the leisure battery as that would not have drained ? Or am I missing something ? I know its not ideal for a leisure battery to do that but If I was stuck could it be done ?The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;

If it was me I'd hold out for a D3 one. I had a D4 one in a long gone D3 and it was a complete PITA remembering to switch it off, with the risk if not starting if I forgot. I ended up not using it. Ok it won't drain your Aux battery but you just know when you need that to jump from that it it'll not be up to it.

And, the TMax relies on a small charge in the cranking battery to link to the aux. So if itβs proper dead dead, then you might need a link wire to be able to join them Mark.

I keep a jumper pack permanently behind the drivers seat for just such an occasion, which is charged by an aux cig socket. I assume the auxiliary battery is the same or similar capacity as your main start battery!
So long as jump start precautions are observed, I cant see a reason why it couldn't be used for starting in an emergency.
I have already bought it Dell so not a lot I can do. All ok with you on your trip ?
A great idea Mr P from Kerry, I will invest in one of those. Always handy to have with a D4 fridge installed πThe happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;

In my cruiser I have jump started one of the main batteries from the leisure battery with jump leads before and had no long term issues

Am I missing something here but cant you use a relay and take an ignition live to feed the relay, ignition off, no power to the relay fridge off? Or is there a reason to keep the fridge permanently on.==================================

That had crossed my mind to run it from the leisure battery but I wasn't sure if it could cause problems elsewhere.The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;

I had D3 with one factory fitted, PITA, I fitted an aux battery solely to jump start the engine if/when I forgot to switch the fridge off.
Now I have a D4 stop start with one fitted, the SS has never worked and never shown a warning up till now that is when it has come on twice a few minutes on first start up, the thing is I have only used the fridge for the same two days.
I have previously checked the voltage of the aux battery and it has been good, if I remember correctly around 12.7v. I have also checked it twice in the last two days 9.7v. The first night I left the Ctek on.
I had come to the conclusion that the battery was goosed but after reading this I am wondering if in fact the fridge on SS models are powered from the aux battery?
Tonight fridge off Ctek on and see what readings I get on the Aux battery tomorrow night.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
I would either feed it from the aux battery or find ignition controlled feed for itPete

I have fitted a relay underneath the terrain response switch, signal from rear center console 12v/aux output. The wires are in the same harness, easy job.
