As far as I am aware you can't have anything obscuring the windscreen area covered by your wipers by more than 40 mm (unless it's an official sticker eg TAX, disabilty etc and they are supposed to be on the passenger side) so putting the sticker on the drivers side could cause problems with the police, VOSA and even fail the MOT. I might be wrong but that's the way I understand it.
Dont get whats wrong with putting it in the 3rd row window on the drivers side!Ben

So what about the LR carbon offset stickers that dealers are told to fit above the tax disc holder then?

That would be safe as the rules are not (supposedly) as strict if its on the passenger side of the windscreen and also if (as on the D3) the area does not obscure the wiped area by more than 40 mm.1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

I stuck it onto the front and top of the drivers side windscreen of the little Renault and it did hinder distant visibility. Had to move it down to the bottom. Not sure if that would be an issue on the D3 as it has a much broader windscreen.2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7

Think you would be safe putting the sticker at the bottom of the windscreen on the drivers side, I can't do that because then it would be in the way of the parking ticket holder.1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

Just reading back over the posts. How the hell can we get into a 'simmering' debate over where to place a stoopid wee sticker
Can we not place it where we like and face the consequesnces when we run over a cyclist, child, poodle or activist when it happens. jeeez

Mine arrived as well today .... thanks Martin.
Now the dilema - where to stick it So many options and opinions ....
Think I'll plump for above the tax disk, just below the CO2 offset sticker. Being orange I reckon it'll stand out from the cool Java D3 HSE MY09, auto, Santorini Black, Black leather, Black windows ... black IS the colour ...
Golf Mk6 GT TSi, Red - supercharger and turbo - the pocket rocket!
Gone but not forgotten:-
D3 XS MY08, manual, Java Black, black leather
1999 TD5 XS auto Oxford blue
1994 300Tdi auto Niagra grey
Life is a voyage of Discovery ... now where did I put the map and compass!

Any issues with the site let me know!
Stuck it in the back window, drivers side, low down, it does not get in the line of site due to the load space cover.
