Fitting D4 sat nav screen in my 2008 D3 SE |
|
Hi can anyone help I’ve just bought a D4 sat Nav screen and want to fit it in my 2008 D3 SE
I have read a few posts so I can see I has been done successfully by a few members
My goal is to have sat Nav. front & rear reversing cameras
Can someone please give me a list of what wiring looms, connectors etc that I will need to install it
The best posts for installation, advice, photos etc.
I also see it’s advisable to upgrade to the D4 Bluetooth module. What will I need to upgrade this?
I have a 2008 D3 SE with sat Nav, Logic 7, Bluetooth phone.
I have no cameras fitted at the moment
Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks in advance

Due to the considerable cost of the updating the map, I personally wouldn't bother. There are many alternatives for camera's and satnav that would do a better job to my mind.
I recently fitted a dash cam that has a rear view cam too. I also tend to use an android tablet with Waze or googlemaps sitting in front of my satnav screen. Dave

100% agree with Skynet. It's useless crap. Sorry!

tank65 - Welcome
I think the majority will agree with Skynet.
I currently have a very late D4, and on that as well as my earlier D3 I relied on a decent Android Tablet, Google Maps and Waze; total cost including an excellent mount & charger to plug in cigarette lighter less than £150.
An added advantage is being able to use it in other cars.

Even on my 2017MY Lexus the satnav is pants in comparison to google maps. Luckily, take delivery of a 2018MY in about 7 weeks and that has google maps built in by all accounts.
Been a long time since I did anything to my built in screen beyond turning it off at the beginning of a long journey. On my previous D3 I ripped the whole lot out and replaced it with a Kenwood system with built in Garmin nav and STILL used my iPad more... D3 07 SE - still going strong

Any help greatly appreciated

A little more advice please. After fitting D4 sat Nav screen to my D3 I’ve noticed the clock won’t set it always goes to 00:00 hours after I set it. Is this another IDD JOB?

No they dont, you will loose auto brightness, speech control will not work, as above the clock does not work. But the Nav screen is better on the ghraphics and phone and audio side of things work, but its not a 5 min upgrade.
Make yourself a brew and have a read here
