Air suspension-Is this normal? |
|
I have just had a new compressor fitted by a reputable garage to my D3 MY2007 following a hairline crack in compressor body leading to the Normal Height Only Fault.
However the new compressor now usually run from 30-60 seconds on start up which I'm sure didn't happen previously with the old compressor. Is it normal for the compressor to activate almost every time on startup? Please advise since I want the system to be operating as it should! Thanks

Yes it is normal for compressor to top up the tank when you start the engine. Maybe you are paying too much attention now than before hence hearing it? 2005 D3 V8 SE

Thanks for the suggestions.I reckon the compressor is now probably working exactly as it should and most likely I am listening for it run and stop which previously I hadn't particularly noticed.

Mine does the same. They may have updated the software. It was changed to help improve the life of the compressor. D1 300TDI ES. just kept going, sold at 170k miles, body beginning to rust
D2 TD5 GS. sold at 140k, chassis beginning to rust
D3 TDV6 SE. 194k Still going.
